Ironclad Distillery Co. is Newport News' first and only operating distillery, nestled in a historic 1913 warehouse near the James River. They focus exclusively on small-batch bourbon, using a four-grain mash bill of Virginia-grown corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley. The tasting room exudes a warm, speakeasy vibe with velvet sofas, vintage chandeliers, and exposed brick. Their signature bourbon is aged in small charred oak barrels, imparting a distinctive, nuanced flavor. Parking is limited out front on weekdays; however, visitors can park for free in the lot past the building on weekends.
