A classic neighborhood bar in Cole Valley, Finnegans Wake has been serving locals since 1989. Originally founded in Noe Valley in 1976, it relocated to 937 Cole Street, the former site of Maud's, San Francisco's first lesbian bar. The space features a long bar, big-screen TVs for sports, a jukebox, pool table, darts, and pinball machines. The back patio offers benches, a ping pong table, and a deck area, making it a popular spot for gatherings. Known for its award-winning Bloody Mary, the bar also hosts biannual potlucks and welcomes outside food. Finnegans Wake was added to San Francisco's Legacy Business Registry in 2021, recognizing its longstanding presence in the community.
