    Opened in late 2023, Magnetar Brewing is a recent addition to Pittsburgh's craft beer scene. Located in the XFactory, a light industrial and co-working space in Point Breeze North, the brewery offers a selection of canned beers to go, including Red Giant, a cherry-wheat beer, and Fire, a New England double IPA. Owner John Mattson, a homebrewer for 30 years, named the brewery after a neutron star with a powerful magnetic field, reflecting his interest in astronomy. Despite limited retail hours, Mattson is at the XFactory most weekdays, brewing and experimenting.
