Strangeways was a family-run bar in East Dallas, known for its extensive craft beer selection and eclectic, rustic ambiance. Opened in 2011 by siblings Eric Sanchez and Rocio Ildemaro, the bar featured exposed brick walls, industrial decor, and a garage door adorned with graffiti. Its beer menu boasted 40 taps, including rare sour and barrel-aged options, complemented by a diverse liquor selection. The kitchen, helmed by their mother, Yolanda Sanchez, offered Venezuelan-inspired dishes like tamales and yuca fries. Strangeways was also recognized for its unique events, such as Barrel Week and collaborations with local chefs. After 12 years, the bar closed in October 2023 due to property ownership changes.
